Instagram is one of the most popular social media apps in the world. How come? Well, it makes people really focus on the aesthetic in all things. It doesn't just come naturally, however. It requires a good eye, a decent device to photograph on, patience, and mainly just practice. If you're interested in learning how to use the beautiful city of Eau Claire to your "Instagram Advantage", then stay tuned. We have compiled an abundance of tips to spice up your profile. We took these photos in the Fall, since we are "FALLing for Eau Claire", but these tips will work all year round.

1. Murals, Murals, and More Murals

Eau Claire is known for being the home of beautiful, and unique murals. So, use them to your advantage! The most colorful mural is actually fairly new. It was completed by a Chicago artist named Molly Z., and is located on the intersection of Galloway and Farwell Streets. It has vibrant blues, pinks, yellows, and more that make any photo look very appealing. Another mural is known as the "Bon Iver Mural", representing a celebrity who stems from Eau Claire. Whether your a fan or not, this mural is has a simple, yet urban look, and is located on the side on The State Theatre, right on S. Farwell Street - running through the heart of Eau Claire.

Place anyone in front of these murals, and it'll get likes for sure!

2. Candids Make The World Go Round

A simple, yet very important tip. Although smiling directly at a camera and saying "cheese" is the easy thing to do, it doesn't always look as good as a natural moment does. The best thing to do is go out on adventures with a friend, and tell them to take pictures when you're not paying attention. This result in the most genuine and appealing photos.

3. Bridges!

There are bridges all over Eau Claire, mostly due the Chippewa River passing through. Therefore, we're in luck! Bridges add texture to the foreground, which contrasts with almost all backgrounds - bringing out the colors and textures above them. There very easy to find, so use them to your advantage for nature photography, or place a subject right in the heart of an empty bridge and tell them to walk down the bridge and capture some candid shots.

4. Coffee Shops & Props

A great way to spice up a photo is by using a prop. It gives the viewer of the photo something to draw their attention to, but - what should you use? Well, in more tolerable weather, I'd recommend flowers, leaves, or simply an ice cream cone. However, if you need to stay inside for your next photoshoot, go to a coffee shop! Our most recent blog post, "ECDC is the Place to be", gives you an inside look at the results. Sit down, grab the closest warm drink or dessert, and tell someone to snap a picture. The results will not disappoint.

We hope everyone is having a great end to November!
